OCT (Optical Coherance Tomography)
3D OCT screening diagnoses potentially serious conditions that can affect your eyesight and your overall well-being.
What is OCT?
Ocular Coherence Tomography is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to reveal the many layers that make up the back of the eye. This painless scan allows instant and early diagnosis of a number of common eye conditions. OCT has become invaluable in advanced eye care because it allows your eye care professional to see tiny changes in the eye, which would otherwise be difficult to detect.
Our 3D OCT unit also captures a digital photograph of the inner surface of the eye at the same time, so that areas of concern identified by the scan, can be cross referenced with the classic view of the back of the eye that your optometrist sees.
OCT scans for common conditions such as:
Age related macular degeneration
Diabetic retinopathy
Glaucoma
Macular holes
Ocular hypertension
Vitreous Detatchments
Why OCT is Worth It?
OCT technology offers an unparalleled view of your eye’s internal structures, allowing us to detect changes that might not be visible during a standard eye exam. Early detection means early intervention, and when it comes to eye health, this is crucial. Many eye conditions develop slowly and can go unnoticed until they start affecting vision. With OCT, we’re equipped to spot these subtle changes and discuss preventive or treatment options early.
