Covid-19 Update from Gilbert Opticians

Your Eyecare and Covid-19

We appreciate you might be worried about the impact of coronavirus on you and your eyecare. The health and safety of both our patients and staff are important to us, and we are doing everything possible to reduce the risk to both.

We are confident that our high levels of hygiene standards in our Practice, means that your eyecare needs will continue to be met in the current situation.

Attending Your Appointment
Currently, you are still able  to attend your appointment as usual. If, however, you have reason to believe you could have contracted Covid-19 and/or have any of these symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, shortness of breath), or have a family member in isolation, please call us first so we can advise accordingly.

Hygiene In Practice

We have also extended our testing times to reduce the number of patients in practice at the same time, and this also allows us more time to ensure the waiting room and examination equipment is clean, and disinfected between patients.

We regularly clean the practice throughout the day and disinfect instruments and equipment between eye exams in line with stringent industry standards.

For more information one of our team will happily advise you on this.

Hygiene Standards
We want you to be reassured that we have and always will ensure your hygiene is taken very seriously all year round and adhere to strict industry guidelines to ensure our practice remains clean. We are following guidance from local health officials to ensure your eyecare can continue uninterrupted.

  • Our team regularly use hand sterilising wipes

  • Our team wash their hands thoroughly between tests

  • Our test room has a basin with antibacterial soap and hot water which you are encouraged to use at your eyecare appointment

  • Every piece of equipment used in your eye exam or measurement process during the dispensing of your spectacles is cleaned with disinfectant wipes including credit card machines

  • Common use areas such as door handles, eyewear areas and spectacles are regularly cleaned throughout the day.

  • Our waiting rooms are being regularly cleaned and disinfected

  • We are avoiding unnecessary skin-to-skin contact such as handshakes

  • We are able to post on contact lenses rather than a visit to the practice to collect

If you have any further concerns or queries, if you are high risk and need a longer appointment, please call us and have a chat so we can adapt to your needs.

Thank you
